Job Summary

Under close supervision, performs routine work involved in food preparation, cooking and serving including simple food handling, portioning, tray assembling, cleaning, mopping, sweeping, loading food into carts, cleaning trucks and equipment, washing large and heavy pots and pans, and transporting food carts to patient areas or dining areas and removing refuse to disposal area. Keeps dining areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Performs related duties as required.


Minimum Experience: Six months of experience in either serving or assisting in the preparation of food or washing dishes, pots, pans in a large cafeteria or dining room.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Act in an appropriate and professional manner as defined by the company’s Standards of Behavior, Policy and Procedures, and Scope of Services.

Following detailed written oral instructions, and learning quantity food serving and preparation techniques. For some positions, ability to perform heavy manual work such as lifting and moving equipment and supplies is required.

Learning to use meat grinders, food choppers, coffee runs, stoves, dishwashing and pot washing machines and related quantity cooking equipment.

Maintaining personal hygiene.

Modern tools, machines and equipment used in the preparation of cooking, baking, dispensing and serving of food in large quantity.

Performing simple math computations in following recipes and other directions. Proper methods of storing food stuffs.

Reading and writing English.

Role model AHS Standards of Behavior. Working effectively with a wide variety of people.

Working weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights.
