Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) provide a variety of patient services. When patients have short-term medical conditions that require immediate care or hospitalization, an acute care setting is where this care is delivered. Acute care medical settings include urgent care facilities, emergency departments and outpatient care centers. Step 1
Eligibility in the program requires either a new grad or employment at a skilled nursing facility. To become a CNA, you will need a high school diploma or GED plus nursing assistant training. Programs are accessible at community colleges, trade schools and medical facilities. Upon successful completion of CNA training, you will need to pass a CNA certification exam. The exam is two parts, a written part and a practical part. Each state has its requirements for CNAs, so be sure to check your state requirements.
Step 2
At this point, you will work for Power Personnel at a skilled nursing facility (SNF) and receive priority enrollment in acute care. Skilled nursing facilities are where most CNAs begin their careers. There is a considerable demand for CNAs in these facilities. This job provides excellent job security. Skilled nursing facilities are great places to develop your skills and gain experience. Your primary responsibilities will include providing basic care to patients and helping them with activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing.

Step 3
Acute care orientation as a sitter takes place in step 3. You will serve as a caregiver who provides patients in need of supervision with companionship and care in this role. Step 4
The final step to becoming an acute care CNA with Power Personnel is acute care orientation on the floor. The acute care CNA supports activities of daily living with patients. You will help dress, bathe, feed, and assist with going to the bathroom. You may also change sheets and bedpans. The position requires that you are patient and understanding with patients who may not communicate their needs. You must also lift and carry patients and help them get in and out of bed. You can expect an average income of $29,660.
